Project 4: You Make Me Blue altered book, stamp, sharpie 2D Mixed Media 2016
Artist Statement: Basically, I ran out of time and slapped this all together. What I had in my head at the moment was 'only you can make me feel so blue' 'only you make me feel blue'. So this is something I think about when I think of my crush because I have this big unrequited love for him
Project 3: Han
Wire, filling, felt fabric, fabric, muslin, black thread, buttons, hot glue 2D Mixed Media 2016
Artist Statement: For this piece, I had no idea what I wanted to do. There were so many choices you can go with fabric and in the end, I ending up choosing to create a doll. I chose to make a doll because I've tried to create one before and I wanted to challenge myself. This little guy's name is Han. Han is a young man who loves to wear his onesie and his green mittens. He's a happy boy and he enjoys sleeping. He may appear creepy, but he's actually a cute, cuddly man who only wants love, kisses and warm hugs. please love him.
Project 2: NEVER HIDE your beauty
Canvas, magazine pictures, elemers glue 2D Mixed Media 2016
Artist Statement: For this project, my main focus is capturing beauty within women. I made sure to include women of color in the piece as well. I find it important to have the representation of women of color because women of color are beautiful. This piece also represents empowering women. I love seeing posts about empowering women and seeing women empowering others because I'm just a gay who loves women so much. Seeing women being powerful and strong makes me so gay like oh my goodness.
Artist Statement: For this piece, the coloring of the prints are all different. The concept that stays the same on the girl is the cut and stitches around her neck. All of the prints vary depending how the girl died. I chose this one specifically because when I colored it, I thought of myself. At times, I feel as though life is swallowing me up and draining me. Perhaps it's also myself making me feel as though I'm fading away. Another message of this piece is perhaps the victims of the girlfriends with psychotic significant others who kill them. For other person, the text 'Dead Girl™' is a message for those who find the girls dead bodies in the lake or just the girls' pool of blood. The moth on her mouth represents her soul. Moths are said to symbolize a fragile vulnerability which represents the girl and her soul.
